Wiki in the Court Room

New York Times recently did a bit on how WikiPedia is being used more and more in the court room. You can see the article here. This is interesting especially in the light that Wikipedia is under scrutinity by their powers for having Microsoft pay to maintain their entry.

The New York Times reports "More than 100 judicial rulings have relied on Wikipedia, beginning in 2004, including 13 from circuit courts of appeal, one step below the Supreme Court." Even Judge Posner joined in saying he's viewed it.

The big debate right now is whether or not organizations could be hired to maintain a WikiPedia entry. I really don't see the difference between that and having an employee maintain it. Not everyone has the time to remove bogus entries underneath their entry. I'm sure Paris Hilton has all the time in the world to do that!
